When you think of the Middle East you do not always think about the opportunities of living and work in Qatar. Since its recent discovery of offshore gas and the hosting of the World Cup it has developed into a thriving and dynamic metropolis complemented by a peninsula of many unspoilt beaches and warm Gulf waters. Yes there are road works and building construction but Doha is rapidly becoming the new Dubai offering the usual expatriate haunts combined with culture and tradition.
If you have been sold on Qatar; what about teaching in a more local environment? Challenge and reward awaits those teachers who would like to try something different, to work in a more cultural and ESL setting delivering the National Curriculum of England and Wales in a private international school mainly for local students.
If you have between one and two years of experience, ideally from the UK (but other nationalities will be considered), have the willingness to try something new and the professional qualities and the cultural sensitivities to adapt to a local teaching environment then this may be the opportunity for you. An ESL background would be most beneficial.
The school accommodates just under 1300 students, 85% of whom are local Qataris. Facilities are good including the usual array of laboratories, ICT suites, media rooms, a swimming pool and astro-turf football pitch.
The monthly tax free salary range is QR8000-13000 (GBP1400-2300) depending on experience complemented by single furnished accommodation, medical insurance, annual flights and gratuity.
Single and married couples without dependants are welcome to apply.
Qatar is one of the Middle East's new and upcoming destinations for expatriates that acts as a great base for exploration throughout the region and beyond; Dubai is just 45 minutes away by air.
